This week we put a fresh coat of Chevrolet engine orange on our rebuilt 327, reunited it with the freshly restored transmission, and set it back in the frame and installed the driveshaft. The water pump, balancer, and lower smog pump bracket were also installed. We then began the process of restoring and installing all of the accessories required for the engine to run. First up was the starter; it just needed a good cleaning and a fresh coat of paint. Next were the exhaust manifolds; glass bead was used to remove the rust and then a high-temp paint was applied to protect the manifolds from corrosion. During the upcoming week, we hope to get the rest of the necessary components installed and get the engine running. First up are some pictures of the engine before and after the paint job. These are followed by some pictures of the engine back in the frame.
